Food Blog Camp: The Round-Ups

in Food Blog Camp, Travel

Yep. I’m putting up our work-cation pictures on a slideshow. Sorry there are no margaritas and guacamole to pass around while you watch. Next time, man. Next time.

I wrote plenty about our experience at Food Blog Camp. Fantastic focus on photography by the White on Rice Couple, Matt Armendariz, and Adam Pearson. A very honest discussion about blogging by Jaden Hair of Steamy Kitchen. Excellent advice on how to build the blog of your dreams by Elise of Simply Recipes. And good, solid, and as always witty advice from David Lebovitz.

We picked one heck of an event to choose as our first food blog conference! The comradery, the support, the advice, the fun. The event attracted everyone from bloggers who had been at this for a few months to the rockstar bloggers that were our hosts. But with all the technical and artistic discussion, the one thing that really blew me away was the real theme of the conference: community. There is such an amazing sense of community around food blogging. One that I hadn’t experienced much since I tend to hang out over here, under my little rock.

But even with rockstar status, these guys were so friendly and so super accessible. They were there for us. To help us. I was just as excited to sit in front of Jaden Hair and have her look at my blog and run down a whole list of things that she would do differently if she were running my site as I was to sit in front of Matt and have him tell me that he wouldn’t change a thing.

And speaking of community… It might have been hard to tell by my daily recaps, but we weren’t by any means the only ones who had a fantastic time. Check out the blogs from other campers (and leave me your link if I missed it!):
