Sauce of the Day: Shrimp Marinara Sauce

in Pasta

Marinara means “from the sea.” While your average marinara sauce does not contain seafood, this one does for a fancy twist.

Ingredients
1/2 lb shrimp, cleaned and peeled
6.5 oz can chopped clams, drained
1 Tbsp olive oil
1/2 medium white onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 small green pepper (sweet or mild), chopped
8 oz can tomato sauce
6.5 oz can tomato paste
1.5 cups water
1/2 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp oregano

Saute onion, garlic, and green pepper in olive for 3 minutes over med-high heat. Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, water, basil, and oregano. Bring to a boil and summer covered for 15 minutes. Add clams and shrimp to heat through, remove from heat. Pour sauce over pasta, toss, and serve!
