I love Americolor products. My parents owned a bakery when I was younger and my mom always used Americolor for her cakes & cookies. A little goes a long way and the colors are beautiful. And I think you need a box of them for your next cake or cookie project.

My last birthday cake – two weeks ago – was a strawberry shortcake sundae. Homemade pound cake topped with vanilla ice cream, strawberries and whipped cream. Delicious!
And I really could use these color gels. I opened my box of gels this weekend to color icing for a gingerbread house and they had all dried up!
My last birthday cake was an Orange Chiffon cake, made by me. I learned some very valuable lessons about egg whites that day.

I can’t even remember the last time I got a birthday cake! But the last birthday cake I MADE was a chocolate spice cake with spiced chocolate buttercream frosting for my dad’s 65th birthday this fall. For anyone who hasn’t had the flavor combination of chocolate and nutmeg…you are missing out!

Um, I had a hard time even remembering the last time I had cake on my birthday! Isn’t that sad? My husband lovingly baked me chocolate cupcakes a few years ago, which was very sweet considering he’s not much of a baker.

My birthday was on Thanksgiving this year so I was stuck eating apple pie as my birthday cake. I was just to tired after making anything else to make an actual cake for myself!
For my 28th birthday my friends and family made me 16 cakes… since I make everyone theirs for their special day, I was surprised by cakes everywhere I went for a week. Ice cream to strawberry shortcake to red velvet to traditional vanilla… it was amazing!

Chocolate Raspberry fondant cake! On one of our family vacations we went to San Diego ‘s Extrodinary Desserts where we shared a gold flaked chocolate raspberry cake–my husband has been trying every year since (on my birthday) to find something that comes even close to heavenly piece of cake!

Last year I had vanilla cake with buttercream frosting!
I had vanilla cupcakes last year!
I was in my sophomore year of college for my last birthday, and I had a biology exam the next day, so I was too preoccupied with studying to go out for some cake. So instead, my friends arranged a bunch of oreos (my favorite cookies) on a plate and stuck candles in the them for me to blow out. It was super sweet of them 🙂

I’m the one who makes the birthday cakes in my house, so therefore I never end up having one… But I recently made a birthday cake for my sister. It was a chocolate cake with caramel buttercream and chocolate ganache icing. Very yummy!

Ok, get a tissue. I haven’t had a birthday cake in forever. I am usually the one who makes everyones cakes and since my husband says, “I didn’t think of it” I didn’t get a cake this year…again. I need to just make my own already! Chocolate with whipped cream frosting!

I don’t remember the last time I had a birthday cake. My daughter’s birthday is 2 days after mine and I always make her a big cake and never make one for me. Her last cake was a key lime cake.

My husband treated me to a safari weekend last September (9/11/2011): zip-lining, hiking, a pontoon boat for two on a huge lake with nothing but Florida wilderness and lastly a full day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. For dinner that night he took me to Sanaa, a Madagascar-S. African restaurant (highly recommend it!). We had a simple but rich lemon cake dusted with sesame seeds. My kind of birthday!
