12 Days of Homemade Christmas: Hot Chocolate/Cocoa Mix

in Beverages, Chocolate, Christmas, Holiday Favorites

One of the most popular recipes on my blog is Homemade Chocolate/Hot Cocoa Mix. With vanilla beans and two kinds of chocolate, it’s richer, more decadent, and levels above any mix you can buy from a store. I’ve included a bag of mix in our goodie baskets for the last several years.

Pick up cellophane treat bags from your craft store and tie with a twisty tie and pretty ribbon. Pair it with homemade marshmallows, a small bottle of Bailey’s, and a fun mug. And don’t forget the card with preparation instructions!

  • I love receiving such gifts. I’m a big fan of hot chocolate, so I’m hopping over for the recipe 🙂

  • I’m going to use this recipe in my holiday baskets. I can’t wait to make it! Thanks for posting!

  • Vanilla beans! I’ve never made a hot cocoa mix with vanilla beans. Now I’m intrigued. Love this as a gift both to give and to receive. Thanks for sharing. Think I may have missed a day or two of gifts. Will have to go catch up.

  • What a wonderful idea! Loving these 12 days

  • Jennie @ Oh, Sweet Day!

I just mixed up some homemade hot cocoa in bags to gift as well!

I just made this mix but made my own adjustments based on some other recipes I found. I used dark and white chocolate (instead of semi-sweet), and halved the recipe. It’s delicious!
