Brought to you by the Number 4:
The 90th Anniversary Edition Kitchenaid Stand Mixer. It’s beautiful in all it’s candy apple redness. And shiny. And it’s the sparkliest way I know how to say thank you for reading.
When I started blogging 4-ish years ago, I had no idea how to operate a camera. I could turn it on, take a picture, and transfer them to my laptop. That’s it. The early days of this blog are full of blurry, poorly lit and embarrassingly composed shots. Now, when I take pictures of my 9-month old, I often get what I’ve learned to be the ultimate mom-with-a-camera compliment:
What kind of camera do you have?!
Ha! Although to be fair, someone has yet to ask me what kind of oven I have 🙂 I keep telling myself that I’m going to go back and replace those photos… but until someone figures out how to bottle and sell extra free time, it remains only a dream. But you don’t care about my ramblings – let’s get to the mixer giveaway!
All you have to do is tell me, what are some of the best things you’ve eaten or cooked in the last month. Or year. Maybe it was a super fancy dinner out. Maybe it was a super juicy, last-of-season peach. Or maybe it was an early Monday morning run to Chick-fil-A after having wicked chicken biscuit withdrawals on Sunday. (I should start a support group because I know I’m not the only one!)
And since that really only takes care of one entry, just stop by Nd say hi for the rest of the week.
Giveaway details:
- The giveaway will be open for entry from now until Thursday, 11/4/10 at 11:59pm central.
- One entry per person. And don’t forget to leave a valid email address – no email, no winner notification! (Nothing funky happens with your email as a result of commenting. It’s also not visible to the public. Pinky swear!)
- The winner will be chosen at random by one of those cold, unfeeling random number generator sites.
- The winner will be announced here (and emailed) on Friday, 11/5/10.
- Want two extra chances to win Big Red up there? Follow me on Facebook and Twitter (simply leave an extra comment to let me know)
That’s it! Couldn’t be any easier. Or better. Unless it came complete with a tall pitcher of ice cold margarita. And a straw.
Comments on this entry are closed.

A caramel apple from my favorite orchard. So yummy I’m contemplating the four hour round trip just so I can get another one 🙂
The best thing I’ve eaten recently was an onion/black eyed pea/brown rice/creamed spinach/chicken dutch-oven concoction that I made last night with a friend. Hopefully I can re-create it this weekend, because it was awesome.
My sweet mother-in-law made an incredible Italian dinner for me and my family on my birthday.
Love the blog and all the yummy recipes! One of my favs this month; mini chicken pot pies. Made with sweet potatoes, it was delicious and froze wonderfully for easy dinners later!
We made breakfast for dinner with eggs and bacon and tomatoes – it was somehow the most satisfying dinner I have had in a week or two!
It’s beautiful, I hope I win!
Congratulations on 4 years! I’ve been a silent follower for the last 6 months or so and I love your recipes.
As a fellow Texan, I absolutely adored your flour tortilla recipe and my other favorite is definitely the lemon chicken spaghetti, yum!
Best thing I have baked this month was pumpkin loaf from my Gram Kennedy’s Huntsville Heritage Cookbook. Loved it.

It was simple to make, didn’t dirty too many dishes and heated up for wonderful leftovers! A huge winner in my book!
Thanks for the chance to win and congrats on 4 great years!
Stefibeth @ aol.com
The best thing I have made this month is a melt in your mouth coconut curry dinner, for my friends and family. They loved it!

Congrats on 4 years! Your blog is fabulous – you should be so proud! As for the best thing I’ve eaten this month…it has to be the new recipe for roast chicken I tried – cream cheese and herbs stuffed under the skin made for one divine dinner!
Hmm, let’s see… Luckily, since I have all week to comment, I don’t have to choose just one – yay! The roasted broccoli from pinchmysalt was pretty fantastic. I highly recommend it.
Happy Blogiversary and great giveaway! The best thing I cooked recently was either apple cinnamon cupcakes with honey buttercream frosting or a bacon, fig and balsamic pizza. Delicious.

Hmm…the best thing I’ve eaten…definitely has to be some brown butter cookies straight out of the oven. Barely baked. With cracks. Super doughy. And nutty. Oh, and the chocolate…
🙂
Oh, and I also just started following you on facebook. I would follow you on twitter, but I don’t have one… 🙂
I’ve been super sick with this head and chest cold for the last 6 days so I’ve been eating Spicy Chicken Chili – white beans, chicken thighs, 1/2 onion, lots of garlic, jar of salsa verde, poblano and habanero peppers in the crock pot for 6 hours.
I know I probably won’t win. First posts never do in these things, but really, just talking about the chicken chili is worth it.
One of the best things I’ve eaten this month was a grilled pizza with ricotta, spinach, and tomato. Grilling pizza is new to me but I’m having a ball trying a variety of toppings.
I have been winging it with my meals. Came up with a beef and pepper stew type thing that was great.
One of the best things I’ve eaten in the past month is sugar donut muffins. They were delicious!
I am glad I can comment more than once, because there is no way I could pick just one yummy thing I have eaten or made! This past weekend I made delicious margarita cupcakes, they were sooooo yummy (and had actual tequila in them, bonus)! Happy anniversary!
We went to The Old Pinke House in Savannah last week. Everything we had was DIVINE! Southern Sushi, Pork Tenderloin, Almond Crusted Tilapia with some delicious shrimp… all AMAZING!

Secondly, this is an awesome giveaway, it has been sort of a dream of mine to even get the chance to look at one of these mixers.
Oh, and the best thing I’ve eaten this month was some awesome springrolls I made from scratch. It is a hellishly long process because I like and want them small and very pretty, but it is definitely worth it.

I also follow you on facebook 😉

The best thing I ate was a few months ago when I just moved into my very first apartment. I was in the mood to eat something wonderful and delicious. So I made a 4 layered lasagna with seasoned ground chicken, layered with portobello mushrooms and 2 types of cheese – monterrey jack and cheddar cheese. It was absolutely perfect and wonderfully delicious. I only gave my really good friend a piece of it and she begged me to make another. 🙂 I have to admit though after enjoying that perfectly sized lasagna for about a week I quickly settled into my apartment and made it my own.
I made pumpkin spice cupcakes filled and toped with cream cheese frosting. They were ammmaaazing!
Happy 4 years! I have only been following for about 6 months now but, oh, how I love your recipes. We have tried them over and over again. Actually, I am making your (knock Knock knock) penne chicken tonight. Yum! Cant wait to try it! -heather palmer palmerusmc@gmail.com

Have to say that the 150 cups of caramel corn that I made for my wedding favors is the favorite thing that I’ve made. One of the best things I’ve eaten in the last month was some skirt steak that I marinated in apple cider vinegar, onions and jalapenos (among many other things). My husband grilled it perfectly and it was juicy and super tasty.

The absolute best meal I’ve had in the last year was in South Padre, Texas. We went there on vacation this past July and ate at a place called The Sea Ranch. I don’t like seafood, so I had a filet mignon. Best steak ever! It literally melted in my mouth.
Holy-awesomeness-giveaway! I can’t believe I haven’t justified the cost of one of these yet, but I would be over the moon to win this! The best things I’ve cooked over the past year all involve my Lebanese in-laws. I make a mean kefta now and couldn’t be happier to have my mother-in-law teach me her tricks of the kitchen. I pray to the cold random-number generator machine to pick me! PS: I love your blog and happy bloggie anniversary party!
I recently discovered I like sushi this year, so I would have to say that! It had crab, craw fish, asparagus, and cream cheese then the whole thing was tempura with a spicy sauce on top.

The best thing I’ve eaten this month? Perhaps simple black beans cooked in a crock pot with a ham hock. I just don’t get it. How can something that simple and haphazardly thrown together taste THAT GOOD? I don’t know, but there’s a second batch simmering away in my kitchen right now. 🙂

I just started my web/blog and you are one of my favorites! As far as something good? I have 2 things!….
1) In honor of my son’s birthday (turning 10 on Halloween), I always mix a bag of BRACHS CANDY CORNS and a can of PLANTERS COCKTAIL PEANUTS in a bowl. If you were to close your eyes and eat them together you would think you are eating a PayDay candybar!!!
2) Most requested recipe from my kids friends… mini sliders… I use ground chuck and sirloin mix. Mix in worcestershire and s&p. BBQ. Top with cheese (kids like cheddar. adults like crubled blue cheese). Put into a Hawaiian Sweet Roll with a little mayo, ketchup and finely shredded lettuce. And watch the plate dissapear! I might have to blog these recipes this week myself :).
Tracy

I have been on a diet since July, so when I splurge on a great dinner out, it better be worth it. I was at the beach during the first week in October and had lunch at one of my favorite restaurants: The Ruddy Duck in Morehead City, NC. I had one of their lunch specials that day and an unbelievable appetizer. I started with the crab and spinach dip with pita points. It is hands down the best crab dip or spinach dip I’ve ever had. I followed that up with the chicken burrito filled with melted cheese, juicy chicken, black beans, Mexican rice, and pico de gallo. It was incredible and the biggest burrito I’ve ever seen (probably almost 2 pounds, so I had a ton of leftovers). If you’re ever in that area, go to that restaurant!
Pumpkin crisp
I tried strawberry jelly on my chicken biscuit the other day, and oddly enough it was really good. You should give it a try. Happy 4th Blogging year.

It might seem insignificant, but those three ingredient peanut butter cookies (you know, with peanut butter, an egg, and sugar); after not being allowed to have desserts of any kind for two months due to medical reasons, eating these was pure heaven. ? They probably weren’t fabulous to a passerby, but to me, they were the best cookies in the world! >__<
Congrats on the anniversary! :]
Mmmmm…I’ve been craving Cyclone Anaya’s Alambre Al Carbon with a sangria swirl margarita since we took our in-laws there. You. Are. My. Hero. You. Are. My. Husband’s. Hero. We grew up in Arkansas, where every singe Mexican restaurant served amazing cheese dip. We have since moved to California and when I try and explain the amazingness that is cheese dip everyone just gives me a blank stare. We have tried so many cheese dip recipes that claim to be “just like the restaurant”. All have failed miserably. We just made your queso blanco and oh my, you are our hero!!! It has exactly the right texture and exactly the right taste. We added cayenne pepper, salt, and a touch of garlic powder. I need to do a little bit of tweaking with the seasonings to get to the exact taste I remember, but we were eating it right out of the pot. Thank you, thank you.

And as for the yummiest food I’ve eaten recently: my neighbor brought over some homemade French bread, and MY GOSH it was awesome! I’d really, really like to make my own bread, but I’m intimidated by the process. It seems to me (really, though) that a KitchenAid Stand Mixer will cure me of said intimidation.
