Fruit Skewers with Yogurt Dip

I don’t think I’ve thrown a party in the last 5 years without a pile of fresh fruit, skewered or cut, and a bowl of yogurt dip along side. I do it partly because there’s usually a real need to balance out the menu with something a little lighter and healthier.

And partly because I could drink the stuff through a straw. If you’re looking for a figure- or Weight Watcher-friendly dip for a certain upcoming football game in which the teams are quarterbacked by Tool 1 and Tool 2, this is your guy. (No, I’m not bitter at all.)

Unlike most dips, this one won’t negate all the goodness of your healthy dippers. Unless you’re dipper is potato chips and had no real goodness other than salty crunchiness to begin with… but you have to try it once 🙂 The sweetness from the honey balances the tangy Greek yogurt and the cinnamon and orange liqueur add another layer of flavor to this super easy-to-stir-together party favorite.

Start on the low end of the honey and then add what you need to get a nicely balanced dip – I can eat Fage straight from the container so I can get away with using half the honey that the original recipe calls for.

Yogurt Dip

A light and tangy dip perfect for dipping fresh fruit.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fat-free Greek yogurt
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp orange liqueur
  • 1/4-1/2 cup honey

Instructions

  1. Stir together the yogurt, cinnamon, and orange liqueur.
  2. Drizzle the honey over top and stir well to mix.
  3. Taste for sweetness and add more honey, if desired.
  4. Serve cold with cut fruit. Leftovers will keep a few days, stored covered in the fridge.

Yields: 10-12 servings
