The difference between the Day 2 goodie and the Day 8 goodie is only a few degrees but I felt that even that smallest difference deserved its own mention.
When cooked to the appropriate temperature, this rich, buttery sauce will produce perfect caramel candies. When cooked for only a few minutes, you end up with an out-of-this-world Salted Vanilla Bean Caramel Sauce. The possibilities are almost endless. The caramel sauce can be used as a topping for ice cream, pies, bread pudding, or pancakes. You can swirl it into brownie batter. Or even simpler – just dip a spoon in the jar 🙂
I bought the jars for this year’s at The Container Store. Each jar will hold 1 cup of sauce. (If you’re wondering, I’ll be making an octuple batch of sauce this year). I also picked up some cute Christmas fabric at Joann’s – I’ll cut circles with a diameters 3 inches larger than the jar lid and then fasten the cloth circles over the jar tops with ribbon for a Christmasy touch.

Oh yum!!!
This looks amazing!! And I love that you can see the specks of the vanilla bean!! Delicious!
Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my face!!!! Looks incredible.
OMG – anything caramel is on my list of favorites! Your photo is amazing. This is a must make over the holidays and beyond.
Oh that looks gorgeous!!!
This sounds like one amazing sauce! I can imagine pouring it on everything!
What a great picture!! The caramel looks so thick and sticky, and vanilla-y. But now I’m wondering… how did clean-up of the caramel puddle go after the photo shoot?? 😉
I’m so jealous. My JoAnn’s had no cute fabric print this year. But at least I can steal this recipe!
Wow this looks wonderful. I adore caramel and this is so tempting.
Yum indeed. I recently made a caramel sauce and am still enjoying its goodness. It’s not an easy sauce to make, but it’s a fun one.
This looks amazing. I have a couple of vanilla beans I need to use up soon and I know exactly what I want to use them in.
Thank you for this idea! I made a quadruple batch for my 7 coworkers and they LOVED this (used the one cup jars from World Market!). Such a great holiday gift idea.
